turnips

Some kids planted turnips in the garden, believing that they were radish seeds. So, they dug them out the other day and were asking me what to do with them. (I have no idea what to do with turnips). They asked me what they are called, but I don't know the Spanish name, so I told them in English. Randy ran and told the other kids, "They are tour-neep."

I don't know what to do with turnips either! I've been laughing lately at my daughters as they learn new words and pronounce them "funny" as a foreigner might!

Turnip is nabo is Spanish. Basically you eat them. The smaller ones taste better and people usually eat the bulbous root or the leaves. The bigger ones are usually for livestock feed because they don't taste as good...
